Life Clinical Research is located in Ipswich, QLD and provides clinical research care to local and distant patients through in-person, virtual, or remote trials. Founded in 2023, the team has since grown to include multiple investigators and associate staff. Our mission is to provide cutting edge science, new pharmaceuticals and devices to our communities to support best patient care.
Co-located with the Ipswich Cardiac Centre, Life Clinical has access to on-site expert cardiac assessments including echocardiography, exercise stress testing, Holter monitoring and 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. We have established links with nearby radiology vendors for x-ray, CT and MRI services.

Cofounder & Clinical Operations Lead
Mr Paul Christensen
Paul Christensen is the Co-Founder of Life Clinical Research and a recognised leader in clinical trial operations across Australia and New Zealand. A Registered Nurse and graduate of Queensland University of Technology, Paul has worked in clinical research since 2004, beginning as a Study Coordinator and progressing to roles in site network management, project management, and clinical operations for international medical device trials.Since 2020, Paul has operated his own consultancy, supporting U.S. and global sponsors to establish and optimise trial operations in the ANZ region. He is an accredited nurse immuniser and a strong advocate for site efficiency, known for his early adoption of digital technologies and innovative approaches to trial delivery. Paul has contributed to multiple advisory boards and panels, offering insights into medical device research and site–sponsor collaboration. His leadership and operational expertise underpin LCR’s reputation as a high-performing, tech-enabled clinical trials partner.

Cardiologist & Cardiac Imaging Specialist
Dr. Cameron Booth
Cameron is a cardiologist with subspecialty expertise in cardiac imaging, including echocardiography and cardiac MRI. His clinical interests span coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, preventive cardiology, sports cardiology, and stress imaging. Cameron completed advanced imaging fellowships at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and King’s College Hospital, London. At Life Clinical Research, he contributes his imaging expertise to cardiovascular trials, supporting patient assessment and protocol execution.

Interventional Cardiologist & Vascular Physician
Dr. Andrew McCann
Andrew is an interventional cardiologist and vascular physician with a clinical and research focus on hypertension, venous thromboembolism, and coronary artery disease. He completed advanced training in Australia and the U.S., including a fellowship in peripheral endovascular intervention and vascular medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Andrew is a Clinical Director at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and serves as Principal Investigator for cardiovascular trials at Life Clinical Research, supporting the evaluation of emerging therapies in routine clinical practice.

Study Coordinator
Ms. Francesca Swenson
Francesca brings extensive clinical and research experience to her role as Study Coordinator at Life Clinical Research. With a Bachelor of Nursing, she began her career in palliative and aged care before specialising in intensive care nursing, where she built a strong foundation in patient-centred care. Since 2008, Francesca has worked across a variety of clinical trial roles, developing expertise in trial coordination, participant engagement, and regulatory compliance. She has also contributed to the not-for-profit sector through health-focused fundraising initiatives. Fran’s blend of clinical skill, research experience, and compassionate approach ensures high-quality support for both participants and trial sponsors.
Cardiologist
Dr. Johannes Moolman
Johannes is a general cardiologist with interests in heart failure, coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, electrophysiology, and cardiovascular prevention. He holds a Master of Medicine and a PhD from Stellenbosch University, awarded for research into endogenous protection against ischaemic damage of the myocardium. Johannes previously served as a consultant cardiologist at Ipswich General Hospital and remains actively involved in clinical education and research. He supports Life Clinical Research as a sub-investigator in cardiology trials.
Rheumatologist
Dr. Kevin Su
Kevin is a consultant rheumatologist with a clinical and research focus on systemic lupus erythematosus and inflammatory skin disease. He completed specialist training across leading Queensland hospitals and a clinical research fellowship at the University of Birmingham, UK, where he investigated lupus protein expression patterns. Kevin is the clinical lead for rheumatology at Ipswich Hospital and Ripley Satellite Hospital, a Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the University of Queensland, and a former executive member of the Australian Rheumatology Association. At Life Clinical Research, he contributes to rheumatology trials with a strong interest in translational research and education.
Infectious Diseases Physician
Dr. John Woodford
John is an infectious diseases physician and NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow with a research focus on malaria therapeutics and vaccine development. Based at QIMR Berghofer in Brisbane, he works within the Barber Clinical Malaria Group and collaborates with the Laboratory of Malaria Immunology and Vaccinology at the United States National Institutes of Health. His work spans early-phase clinical trials, human challenge studies, and field research in endemic regions, particularly targeting Plasmodium vivax. Dr Woodford contributes to Life Clinical Research through his expertise in infectious diseases and translational trial design.
Interventional Cardiologist
Dr. Stephen Kyranis
Steve is an interventional and structural cardiologist with international fellowship training and a strong commitment to integrating research into clinical practice. He completed his cardiology training at The Prince Charles Hospital, followed by advanced fellowships in Australia and at Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, UK, where he also served as a Consultant Cardiologist. Stephen has reviewed for major Human Research Ethics Committees and has prior experience as an investigator on global pharmaceutical and device trials. He currently practises at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Mater Hospital, and Q Cardiology in East Brisbane, where he supports clinical research through his involvement with Life Clinical Research.
Psychiatrist
Dr. Sean Tracey
Sean graduated from the University of Queensland in 1997. He has been practising Psychiatry since 1999, initially as a Registrar, and as a Consultant Psychiatrist since 2008.Dr Tracey has extensive experience working in the public mental health system in Queensland, with experience across all areas of general adult psychiatry, including Old Age Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, and Acute/Emergency Psychiatry.Dr Tracey has a particular interest in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in adults, as well as mood and anxiety disorders.
Endocrinologist
Dr. Tom Dover
Tom is an endocrinologist with a special interest in diabetes and general endocrinology. He holds prior degrees in dietetics and exercise science and worked extensively in the health and fitness sector before pursuing medicine, which he completed in 2006. Tom brings a multidisciplinary perspective to patient care, informed by his background in nutrition and exercise physiology. He supports Life Clinical Research through his clinical expertise in endocrine disorders. Outside of medicine, Tom is an avid marathon runner, having completed more than 20 international marathons including Boston, New York, and Pyongyang.
General Practitioner and Sub-Investigator
Dr Mark Fletcher
Dr Mark Fletcher is a General Practitioner based at Life Clinical Research’s East Brisbane site, with clinical interests in family medicine and men’s health. He brings a patient-centred approach to both general practice and clinical research, supporting the delivery of high-quality trials that align with everyday primary care. Mark is committed to advancing evidence-based medicine and improving health outcomes through his dual role in clinical practice and research participation.
